Parents

At St Hild’s, we know that parents and carers have a huge influence on their child’s career choices. We understand that navigating the world of careers can be complex, and that’s why we’ve created the ‘Careers Guidance for Parents and Carers’ site to provide the information, advice, and tools you need to have meaningful conversations with your child about their future.

To support your child in developing their career pathway, you might:

  • Initiate conversations about their skills, interests and career goals.
  • Encourage them to explore hobbies, interests and experiences both inside and outside of school.
  • Discuss how the subjects and hobbies they enjoy could translate into a career.
  • Promote questioning and research so they can evaluate future options.
  • Highlight your lived experiences in certain careers/industries, and encourage them to share with you what they think they would like/not like about this.

Any conversations or activities facilitated outside of school can ultimately support your child as they access the St Hild’s Careers programme and our overarching Personal Development offer. We aim to provide a programme that goes beyond the national curriculum and is designed to build the knowledge, skills and behaviours that will enable your child to stand out from the crowd. Working together, we can all positively contribute to developing well qualified young people who have the skill set to live a happy life with choice and opportunity, enabling them to have a positive impact on society.
