Teachers

As young people explore their future options, teachers are a vital source of reliable support, advice and information. In addition to embedding career learning into the curriculum, teachers have a wealth of knowledge to share about their own career journeys and can provide valuable insight into what life after school may look like. We also encourage our school to regularly identify ways to enrich the curriculum, and can always seek support from our Careers Lead to help maximise impact.

Our fantastic teaching staff support students by:

  • Emphasise the need for subjects/topics in line with the demands of local labour markets.
  • Highlighting how the skills and knowledge students develop in school will be useful in their further education, training and employment.
  • Reinforce the connection between in-school activities and the key skills that employers look for.
  • Directing pupils toward reliable sources of information about their future options.
  • Providing enrichment opportunities such as cross-curricular collaboration and visits to external providers, which contribute to both subject learning and the development of key transferable skills.
  • Discussing their own lived experience in their education/career pathways, and encouraging students to chat about any aspects they’re interested in.
